John D. Mayfield

John Mayfield received his real estate license in 1978.  John has been a practicing broker since 1981; he owned and operated three offices in Southeast Missouri, and managed over 35 real estate agents during his tenure.  John has taught both pre and post real estate licensing courses since 1988.  He has also earned the ABR®, ABRM, CRB, GRI, and e-PRO® designations throughout his real estate career.

John is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, 1983, Major in Business Administration with a Minor in Communications.  During his studies, a strong emphasis was placed in "Marketing." 

John is an avid real estate speaker and trainer.  John is a GRI instructor for The Missouri Association of REALTORS® and the Arkansas Association of REALTORS® and teaches for the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers (CRB).   John has spoken to thousands of real estate professionals throughout his tenure.  He has been a featured speaker at the 2004 and 2005 National Association of REALTORS® conventions.  He is an author of five books and creator of the “5-Minutes Series for Real Estate Agents.”  “5-Minutes to a Great Real Estate Sales Meeting,” “5-Minutes to a Great Real Estate Letter” and “5-Minutes to a Great Real Estate Ad,” “5-Minutes to Great Real Estate Marketing Ideas,” “5-Minutes to Maximizing Real Estate Technology,” by Cengage Learning, and co-author of “Effective Real Estate Sales and Marketing” with Johnnie Rosenauer published by Thomson Learning.   John is also one of the contributing editors of the “Sales Coach” section for REALTOR® Magazine Online, and is a real estate writer for Hewlett Packard’s Web Site.  John is also very active on a local, state and national level for the REALTORS® Association.  John is the National Association of REALTORS® Director for the state of Missouri. 

John has two children, Alyx and Anne, and he and his wife Kerry own and operate a “Pick Your Own” Blueberry and Blackberry farm in Farmington, MO.
